Hey Sweetie!
How's it going? How was your halloween? Have I ever told you that I DETEST HATE Halloween!?! Good news is that we didn't have a lot of people come by the house…bad news is that we still have abuttload A LOT of candy left over. It is so tempting it's going to make my butt huge. Poor Tiffany can't leave it alone either! We are doomed..ha,ha
My clinical this week was interesting. On Monday, I ended up with 2 dementia patients. One was in her mid-90's dang that's old, the other in her 80's. The older one had fallen and hit her head--she ended up fracturing her skull. Lucky for her, there was no bleeding involved. She was pretty bad though. She kept repeating "Oh dear"…but in a flat tone--over and over and over and over again. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. We had to take her walker away (didn't want her to try to run away) She was MAD! She wanted that walker…we hid it in the bathroom thinking "out of sight, out of mind". She kept pointing and saying "oh dear"….but in an angry tone…it was kind of funny. You could hear her down the hall just repeating "oh dear". When I would pass another nurse, we would say to each other "oh dear". She really was a cute old lady! She refused to be treated though. She would not allow me to take her vitals or do an assessment. I brought my instructor in to give meds…she REFUSED to take them. I tried everything…even my instructor tried…NO LUCK! Later in the evening, she let me take vitals, but still would not take any meds. I wonder if that was her way of having some control. Part of me wondered if she just wanted to go "home" if you know what I mean.
The other one had her daughter there. She also fell, but broke the vertebrae in her neck.. She is lucky she is not paralyzed. Such a sweet lady though. It was nice that her daughter was there to make her mother do things. I felt bad for the daughter, you could tell that she was extremely stressed out.
By Tuesday, the two were sent back to the nursing home in which they had come from. THANK HEAVENS!!! So, I ended up with 2 new patients. One had both knees replaced…he was an awesome patient. The other was in surgery…she was a 97 year old that fell and broke her hip. (what is it with these old people?) I ended up getting a different patient since the 97 year was in surgery for a LONG time. My instructor was afraid that she was not going to come back up. She eventually came back up, but it was pretty late.
I am still not liking my clinical instructor, but she has been better. Although I did learn on Thursday that she was complaining to another student that I had not pulled my 9 o'clock meds and it was 8 o'clock already…how unprofessional is that??? Oh well, I am not going to let it bother me. I have too many other things to be stressed about…ha,ha
Oh, JD's wife had a baby girl on Friday. She is a cutie…maybe I should grab a picture of her so you can see her…hang on…lol
What a cutie. But Danny is cuter!
Jessica sent some pictures of Danny in his halloween costume…CUTEST BABY EVER!!!
This is Jessica, Brad, Morgan, Tim and Mike
So the wedding is less than 2 weeks away. Things around here have been getting stressful wish gpa and Mary would leave! We were going to do the luncheon at the church with Qdoba catering…but since we can't do it in the cultural hall, dad didn't like the idea. So, I got the privilege of calling around, like I really wanted to do that…not. We are now going to have the wedding luncheon at HuHot. It will cost a little more, but I won't have to clean up. I am sure I will be grateful on the wedding day. I just really HATE dislike calling around for stuff like that!
Well, I need to get back to studying, some days I HATE studying! Please say extra prayers for me. I have had a "perma-headache". I even have headache pills from the doctor. I think it is just stress, but it would be nice if it went away every now and then! I also have a VERY short fuse with the family. I believe it all goes back to the stress and people being idiots around here. It's all good though. I look forward to the Thanksgiving break. I think Gpa and Mary will be gone; Ryan and Siera are staying at the Trujillos since they will be in Idaho, so it will only be Tiffany, me and Dad. Tiffany and I have the whole week off. Dad isn't sure if he wants to take it off or not. We will see!
Well, always remember who you are! Mind your p's and q's. Be strictly obedient--not fun, but necessary and HARD. Mind your manners. "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin at all". Know that I love you and pray for you every day! I am so very proud of you! I know what you are doing is not easy…hardest thing in my life…well almost, maybe having IT here was harder. Keep your chin up and WORK hard, you will never have this time again to serve the Lord completely!
I love you!
Mom
