Hey Sweet pea!
I sure love you. I am so proud of you. Keep on pushing forward…you can do it! I am so excited for Christmas when I can talk to you on skype!
This week has been a busy one! Not gonna lie! Monday we were supposed to have a tour of the flight for life. On my way in to the hospital, we were told that they were on lock down. I can tell you what happened, but you cannot tell anyone else (I could get in big trouble). So, you know that we had a shooting here at the Planned Parenthood. If you don't know, there was a shooting there were 3 that died, and 11 injured--most of them were police officers. There were 2 that were injured that were not police officers. One was sent to Penrose (where I am doing my clinical) and one was sent to Memorial. Well, the 2 were a boyfriend and a girlfriend--they were at planned parenthood to have an abortion. Well…I guess the girl's husband found out and went to Penrose all crazy. He was able to escape without getting caught and without doing any damage. Then he went over to Memorial--who was on lockdown also. CRAZY world! I don't blame him for being upset, but you just can't go crazy over things, or innocent people will get hurt!
Finally, we got the all clear and we were able to get into the hospital. We had our tour of the flight for life…here are some pictures
It was FREEZING up there! It was cool though! I then got to spend the rest of the clinical in the emergency department. I had a lot of fun. Dad brought Tiffany and Ryan to the hospital and met me for dinner. I think that helped Tifffany not get too upset with me being gone.
Tuesday, I got to work with the wound care nurses. It was interesting--some of it really gross! I actually enjoyed myself!
Wednesday, I had to work in the sim lab. Basically, it is supposed to be a mock emergency department. First, they had me dressed up as a stroke victim. The makeup artist was phenomenal!
Can you tell that my left side droops? I went into the bathroom after this and about freaked out when I saw myself in the mirror. ha,ha
The next scenario that I was given was that I was a patient having a psychotic episode and I tried to nail my hands to a board…I know, very sacrilegious, however, I was told that this is a common theme with psychotic episodes. (remember, I did not make up the scenario)
Is the makeup not phenominal? Here are a couple of other pictures…first is the "domestic violence victim"
Then the dog bite.
I was amazed at how FAST the makeup artist did all this stuff. Overall, it was a fun experience!
Thursday was my last lecture…woo hoo!!! Then Friday, I had a test that took me 2 hours…YUK. Basically, it is a test to determine the likelihood of me passing the NCLEX (RN test) on the first try. Can you believe…the test indicated that there was a 98% chance that I would pass on the first try. Not too shabby huh? I scored in the 90th percentile nationwide! That made me feel better about myself!
You poor dad has been sick with a nasty cold! So, on Saturday, he slept all day, while I did the shopping, cleaning up and studying for my final. I can't believe that I only have Tuesday of clinical and then the Final on Thursday. We have my graduation or pinning ceremony on Friday! Then I have to work at preparing to take the NCLEX. Extra prayers would be appreciated on Thursday. :)
Oh, I am mailing your package on Monday…it is sort of big. It has your christmas tree, stocking and presents :) We hope you have fun decorating your tree. I had a hard time knowing what to get you, so…I hope you like them…remember, do not open your presents until Christmas :)
So, sweetie, I am gonna finnish up. I sure love you and I am so proud of you! Always remember who you are!! Mind your p's and q's. Be strictly obedient. Know that I love you beyond measure!
Love Always!
Mom
