So, I had my final last Wednesday. I did a LOT of studying! I figured that I could at least pass the class! This class has been such a struggle for me! So, In order to get a B, I could only miss 3 questions--to pass the class I could miss 13. Talk about stress! We were being tested over 25 chapters. It was quite intimidating! After taking the final, I drove home upset. I did not feel that I did so well. I tried to figure out what I had done wrong in my studying. I really didn't do anything different, I just couldn't seem to pass these stupid tests. I waited online for the grades to post. I kept refreshing the page. For over an hour, I agonized over this stupid test! At least I was not alone! The rest of the class was doing the same thing! When the grades finally posted, I was sure they posted the wrong grade for me! I only missed 3 questions! Yep, I got a B in the class. I was so unbelieving, that all I could do was sit here and cry. Ryan thought it was funny!
Dad and I went out to dinner to celebrate! I have to say that my brain is still feeling a bit fried!
I tried my "hand" at making candy the other day. I decided to try English Toffee. I used a recipe from your cousin, Kayla. She said it was super easy...well, I can't say that it was super easy. Me and Ryan and Tiffany all took turns stirring. It was very difficult. Then it started to burn. I tried to get it poured into the pan before it got too bad. In my haste to pour it out, some splattered on my hand, and it got BURNED! I immediately ran it under cold water. Then switched to a bowl with ice water. Surprisingly, it didn't really hurt. It blistered up pretty good...and now it just oozes. Still it is not painful. When we looked up burn staging...I have either a very deep 2nd degree or a 3rd degree. The 2nd degrees usually hurt though--in fact it says "severe pain". On the 3rd, it says there is little to no pain. I will see if I can get a picture. What is weird is that when I touch it, it feels numb. Interesting huh? I really don't think it looks that bad. This picture doesn't do it justice. I guess you can say that I am grateful that it doesn't hurt--especially considering the candy was up at 300 degrees F. It still fills up with fluid, but then it drains.
Before the candy making, Tiffany had asked if I would come get her for Lunch. She accidentally left the key in the ignition, partially turned on in Dora, and Dora was dead...that really upset her. Anyhow, I picked her up and when she saw me, she started crying. She just feels as though none of her "friends" care about her. I ended up letting her stay home. That is when we tried to make the candy...epic fail!
Friday night was our Ward Christmas party. It was a little unusual. They just had a short program and shared desserts. I guess it was weird because it started at 6pm....anyhow, Ryan and I had a part in the program. They first did a sing a long of Christmas Carols. Then Brother Spencer told a nice Christmas story. Then we did this "play" type song. Ryan and I each had a part. The whole song was about 10 minutes in length. It was nice, however, both Ryan and I messed up the words! For some reason, I was just not able to keep the words in my head. Sad part is that is was actually a very simple part. Oh well, like I said...I was brain fried! We did not stay for the dessert...instead, Ryan took TT home and went off to the "Singles Mingle", and Dad and I went on our Friday night date.
So, Saturday, Dad and I did our usual shopping. We had arranged for Megan to come over and help TT bake/make candies. She never told TT that she was sick and wasn't going to come. Instead, she told TT that she was watching shows with Lee Eans...TT was crushed. She was really looking forward to spending some much needed time with Megan...it made it worse that she had told Megan that she likes Lee (not sure why...ha,ha). She did some crying, and we made some English Toffee that was easier and actually worked!!! We also made a rocky road candy and banana nut bread. We are trying to get stuff together so that we have something to give when we go Christmas Caroling next week.
Ryan ended up taking some of the English Toffee to church today to share with his class. Now I have to make more! :(
Tiffany is going into Final's week. It would be great if you said extra prayers for her! Dad is leaving tomorrow for California for the day. He is doing some youtube video thing about some part he designed. When he practiced what he is supposed to say...it went WAY over my head...ha,ha. Not sure how you can not sound boring presenting that stuff..ha,ha...Ryan says that he sounds like "Sheldon" from Big Bang..ha,ha.
My Birthday is Wednesday :) Woo hoo...love getting older...NOT! Ryan will be doing some EMT training at the fire station that night...guess he doesn't want to celebrate me getting older...ha,ha. I really don't mind! Also...On Wednesday, Aunt Lori is having surgery again on her hip/leg. I guess the pin that they put in during the 2nd surgery has broke. She has been in a lot of pain. Now she is very upset to have to have surgery again. She is not sure when she will be able to go back to work--she only has a little bit of short-term disability left. So, extra prayers for her would be great!
